Royal Fern

in Nature abstracts

Royal ferns are a handsome addition to the garden, with big, bold sterile fronds and separate fruiting fronds that carry the sporangia like a spike of rattling tiny balls. Because they are deciduous, the new growth in spring is vibrant and fresh. This variety has the finest red edge to contrast with the lime green, a subtle highlight in the abstract pattern of overlapping fronds.
