White gum and rocks

in Australia

The land of central Australia may be uncompromising and harsh, but it is a fascinating place painted in primary colours. This is Karlu Karlu, or Devils Marbles, where granite boulders heap in impressive formations and many stand singly having been carved into perfect balls or eggs by the action of time, sand, wind and solarisation. The shining white trunks of the gum trees is a perfect foil for the red, blue and yellow scene.
